Watching Way Too Much TV For You!

Note: These reviews of Glee will not include any song spoilers but will include guest stars.

What FOX Says about tonight’s episode (w/out the songs):
Mr. Schuester is concerned that the girls in the glee club are being disrespected and bullied by the guys. Looking to Madonna and her musical message of equality as inspiration, he challenges the entire team to choose Madonna songs as their next assignment in the hopes that the girls embrace her strength, independence and confidence and that the guys will see the error of their misogynistic ways. The glee club takes the assignment to heart as they perform some of Madonna’s greatest hits, including “************” and “**********.” Meanwhile, Kurt and Mercedes give Sue a vote of confidence with a makeover that is definitely in “Vogue” in the all-new “The Power of Madonna” episode of GLEE airing Tuesday, April 20 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GLE-115) (TV-14 D, L, S)
If you were left a little cold by last week’s return of Glee like a lot of people I know were, I think the smiles will return to your face this week. As you most likely have heard, the episode entitled “Power of Madonna,” rightly features the infamous diva in every single moment of the show from the songs to characters to plot, you are inundated with the icon.
The episode is a welcome return to the laughter and heart that I have learned to love about the glee club, as well as continues last week’s introduction of Jesse St. James and his Vocal Adrenaline teacher. Johnathan Groff was easily the highlight of “Hell-O” as he has a deep and long relationship with Lea Michele that is really showcased here.
If you also tuned in after the episode on Tuesday, you also would have seen the colossal mistake of FOX showing Jane Lynch real first musical number that is presented in this hour. To me, FOX should let the song selections go unannounced, because the moment the video pops up during the hour is of pure epicness.
As always, Glee airs after Idol tonight on FOX around 9/8c, but make sure to set to pad your DVRs as with FOX Tuesdays you never really know (plus aren’t you watching Lost?!).

Comments on: "The Icon: My Review of Glee’s “Power of Madonna”" (2)

  1. I was a huge Glee fan from day one – but I haven’t been overly thrilled with the episodes since the return. Even the Madonna ep left me a little off – didn’t help that they ran the best number after the hour. I caught it but not on the DVR. If I hadn’t been watching it live I would have missed it. Boo Fox

  2. I love your blog. I just read that Madonna announced she is giving music a rest, saying she doesn’t have the “time or energy” to sing. Interesting! What do you think about that?
