Friday marked the day that news came out it was not even news anymore. For weeks, ABC has been doing sly promotions during LOST, for their new fall drama FLASH FORWARD. The promos will continue throught out the finale weeks at ABC. Before the show was not really picked up but HR is reporting it is now.
FLASH FORWARD is about a group of characters that are seemingly all connected and get more connected when the whole world blacks out and experiences flashs from the future six months ahead. The flashes lasted 2 minutes and 17 seconds and caused worlds of hurt and questions.
It stars Joseph Fiennes, Sonya Walger, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Brian O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Christine Woods, Zachary Knighton and Peyton List.
I have read the script and it was just plain amazing, it captivated me from the first page and I am more than excited to see the finish project. Watch out from this one!
Here is the full description from ABC, and below the jump the article on the pickup from Variety.
“What if you were shown a glimpse of your future, but didn’t like what you saw? How hard would you fight and what would you sacrifice to keep it from coming true? When an unexplained, cataclysmic event knocks out the entire population of the world at the exact same moment, for two minutes and 17 seconds, everyone will see a glimpse of their own future. Then they will wake up to chaos. From his flash forward, LA FBI Agent Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes) is able to piece together the ‘when’ April 29, 2010, but he’s desperate to figure out the ‘why’ and stop what’s coming because it’s a future he doesn’t want to see. In the future, Mark’s beloved wife has left him for the father of one of her patients. He’s started drinking again, his loyal partner’s been murdered and masked operatives are hunting him down. Before long, everyone starts asking themselves and each other, “What did you see?” As Mark and his team struggle to figure out what caused this bizarre event and wonder will it happen again, the only thing they have to go on is a huge mosaic of people’s flash forwards. Adapting award-winning science fiction author Robert J. Sawyer’s revolutionary novel, executive producers David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight) and Brannon Braga (24, Star Trek: Enterprise) invite us to flash forward into a thrilling vision of a world held captive by events that have not yet taken place. No one knows for certain what the future holds, but everyone will have their theories.”
ABC made another early pickup late Friday, giving a series order to sci-fi drama “Flash Forward.”
Series green light wasn’t a surprise; the Alphabet network has already been teasing the show via a series of viral marketing spots during “Lost.”
That’s led most to assume that “Flash Forward” will bow in the fall to satisfy “Lost” fans as they wait for that show to return in January.
“Flash Forward” reps the second early series order this week for ABC; net also picked up the laffer “Modern Family.”
ABC Studios is behind “Flash Forward,” which centers on what happens when everyone on Earth briefly falls unconscious at the same time for two minutes and 17 seconds. During those moments, people see what happens to their lives six months into the future.
Show is based on the novel “Flash Forward” by Robert Sawyer. David Goyer andBrannon Braga wrote the pilot, while Goyer also directed. Goyer, Braga, Vince Gerardis, Jessika Goyer, Marc Guggenheim and Ralph Vicinanza are exec producers; Guggenheim and Goyer will serve as showrunners.
