News Out of Press Tour

The days of network Press Tour had some news that could either be good or bad for you!


  • The Lie to Me crew says that their show is better than The Mentalist because Lie to Me is based on real science while Mentalist is not.
  • Boldly Going Nowhere pilot (hilarious script) is being reshot, and is being considered for the fall.
  • RemoteFreeTV could continue beyond Fringe and Dollhouse but unclear right now.
  • Virtuality (amazing, amazing script) could still air but no longer 2 hours, being recut to one and then could be considered. It is said to be to dense.
  • Fringe is a “keeper” says the execs at FOX, hinted at a second season!!!
  • Osbourne: Reloaded, a variety show from the famous family, is going to air, but unknown date. Mixed reviews.
  • Fox has renewed the missing Til’ Death. It only aired 8 episodes this year.
  • And the biggest news was that FOX has cancelled Prison Break.


  • Swingtown is officially cancelled.
  • The Mentalist will get one more episode this year, one is airing this Sunday after football!
  • The NCIS spinoff is going full steam ahead with casting now and will air as a backdoor-pilot on NCIS this spring.
  • From Showtime: The United States of Tara‘s young kid is gay, but that word will not be used.
  • John Mayer reality/variety/special show is a go! Working out details now.
  • CBS has faith in horror series Harper’s Island. If a second season happens, there will be new local and cast.
  • From Showtime: The L Word spinoff is set in a prison, said to be like a female Oz, that is also starring Famke Janssen and Laurie Metclaf.

  • Southland, formally Police/LAPD, will debut April 9th at Thursday at 10/9c replacing ER
  • Kings will now premiere on March 15th at 8/7c on Sundays before Celebrity Apprentice.
  • Idris Elba (The Wire) is set for 6 episodes of The Office, as a rival to Michael Scott at Dunder Mifflin.
  • Untitled Amy Poehler/Greg Daniels will premiere on April 9th at 8:30/7:30c replacing Kath & Kim.
  • 30 Rock, The Office, and The Biggest Loser are all renewed for next season.
  • Lipstick Jungle is still in contention for next fall.
  • NBC feels good about Friday Night Lights, Life, and Lipstick Jungle.
  • The Chopping Block, a reality cooking show, similar to Hell’s Kitchen, will replace Knight Rider at 8/7c on Wednesday.
  • Heroes said to be on the “safe” side of things.
  • Chuck will be looked at seriously for next fall.
  • Kath & Kim and Knight Rider were nice tries but are unlikely returns.
  • The Philanthropist, the worldwide drama, could air in the spring.


  • ABC is very pleased with the direction of Private Practice, and has high hopes for the rest of the season.
  • Denny is not a ghost of Grey’s Anatomy.
  • The remaining episodes of DSM, Pushing Daises, and Eli Stone, will air in the summer, June at the earliest.
  • Scheduling news for the comedies Better off Ted, In the Motherhood, and The Goode Family will come in a week or two.
  • The TCA critics attending the event got to see the the third episode of Lost Season 5. LUCKY, I want to see it!
